AD- Items in this stocking fillers guide have been provided in exchange for inclusion but all thoughts and opinions are my own
When we were kids we didn’t really do stockings. I remember having them once or twice, but it wasn’t a regular occurrence. But the first Christmas I spent with Luke’s family I discovered it was something they did every year. And I got my very own one! So to start a new tradition for us we decided to do stockings for each other as something to open first thing in the morning so we could spread out the gift-giving more.
Whether it’s a stocking for a child or an adult there are loads of cool things you can put into them. And this stocking fillers guide is full of great additions all under £15.
The first thing that I love to put into a stocking are socks and I have these ones from Burlington* (From £12). We got some his and her socks, although definitely not matching. These socks are the standard style that comes up above the ankle, but not too high and they’re super soft. I got some Christmassy-looking red and white ones and went for the more traditional Argyle style for Luke. All Burlington socks include the branded clip stud on the side and they just feel really luxurious. One of the things I love about them is even though they’re warm they aren’t very thick so when I’m wearing leggings and need to put them underneath or certain boots they don’t bulk out too much.
Books are a great stocking filler and something I love to get in my stocking. The Meee books* (£8 each) are a series of books designed with 60 ideas that you can implement to help improve an area of your life in 60 seconds. If I can change my life in 60 seconds then sign me up.
The books themselves are really pretty, colourful and are full of great tips. There’s Meee in a minute; 60 ways to improve your life in 60 seconds. This one is full of life hacks, insights, advice, stories, exercises and so much more to help you improve your own life. There’s Meee in a family minute; 60 ways to improve your family life in 60 seconds. This one is a really interesting book with tips and strategies to help you appreciate, engage with, enjoy, connect and reconnect with your family. And then my personal favourite is Meee in a work minute; 60 ways to improve your working life in 60 seconds. This has practical tips around work, the importance of it and how it’s good for us. We spend so much time at work that I’m always on the hunt for ways to optimise and streamline my working life.
There’s nothing more fun than getting something like a little game or trivia that you can bust straight out and start using. Now Luke is a complete and utter movie buff, so this movie trivia* (6Euro) is going to be a treat for him. Inside the cute little tin, there are 50 questions to test the knowledge of any movie lover.
But if movies aren’t the right specialist subject there’s also sport, travel, pop culture and do I know you?
Self-care/ pampering gifts are great options for stocking fillers, and Dr. Paw Paw is a great choice for just that. The Sleeping Beauty Gift Collection* (£15.99) is a beautiful set that includes a lip scrub to buff away dead skin and leave the lips silky smooth. There’s an overnight lip mask to put on before bed to nourish and smoothen the lips. And it even comes with a beautiful silk eye mask which says ‘Goodnight Gorgeous’ on it.
Someone doesn’t need to be hugely into beauty or skincare to appreciate this. And in the winter months, our lips all need a bit of extra TLC with the colder weather.
If you want something practical that can be built then the Gorilla 3D wooden puzzle* (£9.60) would be a great stocking filler. It comes completely flat (so very easy to wrap) and comes with balsa wood pieces to create a 3D gorilla. If you’re buying for someone younger it could be a nice family activity to do together on Christmas Day or within the days that follow.
I can just about do a regular puzzle, so a 3D puzzle might be a bit out of my remit. But I’m looking forward to seeing Luke attempt to make this.
I’m a sucker for a bath bomb, and so is Luke. So as soon as I saw the Fortune Cookie* (£6.99) from Prezzybox I knew it would make a great stocking filler. Not only will you get a lovely luxurious bubbly bath that will fizzle under the warm water you’ll have a fate revealed to you. Okay maybe it won’t define your future, but you’ll get one of 6 pre-set messages which is just as good.
Either way, you’ll have fun waiting for it to fizz out to reveal your message. And then a nice bath at the end. Win-Win.
Whether you’re buying for a kid or an adult, novelty chocolate always goes down a treat. And here you have a whole pot of Reindeer Poo* (£4.95). Whatever the age of the recipient we’re sure this little tub will bring about laughter. And the reindeers must have been magical as the contents are delicious salted caramel pieces wrapped in milk chocolate. So they taste great too!
The chocolates come from the brand Ask Mummy & Daddy which was founded by Kane Dowell in 2017. He wanted to create a range of premium, high-concept sweets that were perfect to gift. And after travelling the world and seeing all the flavours and amazing packaging he was inspired to create his own confectionary for gifting made in the UK with biodegradable or recyclable packing. The brand is now stocked in Selfridges Food Hall, across national outlets and family-owned shops, and online.
Fancy some chocolate shaped like a load of fruit? How about knitting needles? Or a piano? Choc On Choc have you covered! Here I have the Full English Breakfast* (£15) which is just beautiful! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why not have it in chocolate form for all breakfast lovers?
Choc On Choc hand-make their chocolates in Somerset using the finest Belgian milk, white and dark chocolate to make their creations. And I’m sure you can admit it looks pretty impressive. The story started in 2003 in a village near Bath by father-daughter team Kerr Dunlop and Flo Broughton. Kerr who was an inventor was messing around chocolate one day with Flo and were filling rubber moulds shaped like noughts and crosses thinking they’d make nice presents. And everything grew from there where they came up with the original (and now patented) idea of layering chocolate on top of the chocolate to create their designs, and hence the brand name!
You can still buy the original noughts and crosses product, now known as ‘Love and Kisses’.
I could never find anything with my name on it when I was younger so I always had to settle for the letter R. But whether you’re buying for someone with a more unusual name like mine, or not this decorative alphabet letter* (£8.95) from the Enchanting Disney collection would make a great gift. They go from A featuring Alice from Alice in Wonderland, through to Z featuring Zazu from The Lion King. Above I have the letter T featuring Tramp from Lady and the Tramp.
The cream-coloured letter helps the character stand out and it’s such a pretty decorative item for any kid or adult. Each letter is hand-painted and beautifully finished.
I’m sure we’ve all had chocolates with a surprise toy we were kids (or adults- no judgment here) and that’s where PLAYin Choc was born as the owner used to love them but as she got older got a bit more health-conscious, especially about what she was giving her kids. She started experimenting with chocolate recipes using organic ingredients with no refined sugar. And as her and her son were lactose intolerant, they had to be dairy-free. And that’s where PLAYin Choc comes in. The chocolate is made from just cocoa beans, coconut, and vanilla.
The chocolates inside are dairy, nut, and gluten-free. And the surprise toys inside are plastic-free. So it’s a win-win as you get some yummy chocolate and a surprise toy but as good as it comes. You can buy them individually (£2.50) or in packs of 6 or 18 and they’d be a great little stocking filler.
Stocking fillers can be both fun and practical, and the home hacks kit* (£10.99) is perfect for anyone who enjoys creative fixing and DIY hacks. The set includes 14 practical and creative projects including how-to-guides, stories from fellow fixers, and multi-purpose mouldable glue.
If you want to learn how to repair and decorate ceramics, fix a dishwasher, make personalised gifts, and more then this is the set for you. There are crafty ideas and ways to organise and transform the things you love and help around the home. There’s also a tech kit to help fix and improve your gadgets, and a fix & create kit to help mend and craft your items.
As soon as I saw this book I knew it would be a great one for us as new cat owners. If you know a fellow cat parent then the cat purrsonality test book* (£9.99) is a great stocking filler idea. There are nine fun and easy-to-score personality tests to learn how your cat thinks and their quirks. Each of your cat’s behaviours tells us something about who they are and what they’re thinking. And I’m quite excited to find out what our cat’s personalities are like.
With 81 multiple choice questions find out what your cat is really like! And match answers to one (or more) of 36 profiles that are all beautifully illustrated.
