Even though you’d like to think that potential buyers could look past your home’s decor and see themselves putting their own mark on a pad, sometimes they need a little help. If your home has a lot of personal touches, like patterned flock wallpaper, a damson plum accent wall in the dining room, a bright yellow kids’ bedroom, and a very fun but unusual mid-century carpet in the living room, you might want to think about neutralising your decor. People like to look around other people’s homes, but they might not always want to live there.

You shouldn’t keep your home and wait for someone who likes the way it looks inside to fall in love with it. Instead, you should get out the neutral paint, get out the rollers, and lay down some laminate or oatmeal-colored carpet. This may seem a little dull, but it will be so cheap to do that it won’t be an issue, and it could capture a sale. This style of decorating will also make it easier for people to want to buy your home. Even if they still want to put their own stamp on the house and change the colours, it will be easier for them to imagine what it will look like if the walls are white and there is no wallpaper to remove. The price of your house could go up, too, which is always a bonus for you. 

Preparing your house for sale- Clutter

If you live with a small family, you probably have an outrageous amount of stuff. Many people will think this is junk, but to you, it’s your family’s history, memories, and little things. Even though you might love being surrounded by these things, people who come to your place will think it’s too crowded and doesn’t have enough space. 

If you want to sell your home, it’s time to put some things in storage or sell some things. If you haven’t used something in a year, you should get rid of it. You could put it up for sale on eBay or give it to a thrift store. Alternatively, if you really can’t bear to get rid of some personal items, you can hide them in your loft space or buy divan beds for extra storage while people look at your home. If you move these things, you’ll be able to see more wall space and feel how big your house is. The worst thing that can happen to a buyer is to walk around a home and feel crowded.
