Revisiting My London Bucket List In 2019

AD - This is a collaborative post but all thoughts and opinions are my own
including all things on my London bucket list

The last London bucket list post I did was at the end of last year (which you can read here). And I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone. I don’t feel like I’ve spent as much time in London this year as usual while we’re in major savings mode. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t managed to tick a few extra bits off my bucket list.

I am conscious of the fact that when we move next year *fingers crossed* chances are we’ll be moving a little further out of London than where we are now. So the trips we do make into London will be less frequent, but we’ll be making the most of every trip we do go on. As we’ll potentially be coming from further away booking anytime fully flexible tickets might be our cheapest travel option.

Without further ado here’s an update on what I wanted to do at the end of 2018 and what I’ve managed to tick off.

school of rock

Watch the School of Rock at the theatre

This was one I managed to tick off our list quite early in the year. I managed to get great value tickets off TodayTix and booked them as mine and Luke’s Valentine’s Day treat. The theatre where School of Rock is shown is quite small, so even though our seats were upstairs we still had great views.

I’d already seen the show in New York so had a bit of an idea of what to expect. But it still blew me away. The movie is one of my favourites and I think the show is a great representation. Plus the kids who do actually play their own instruments are so talented.

London bucket list: Visit Kew Gardens

This is one I didn’t manage to tick off which is a shame. But I feel that as we’ve only got to June it’s probably not been the right weather to visit Kew Gardens. I’m hoping to book a trip to spend a nice sunny weekend day there over the summer. But this depends on getting any sun, so keep your fingers crossed.

Ice cream and macaroon from Yolkin London

Eat at Yolkin

Now for the first of two sweet treats to appear on the list and another one I managed to tick off. As you can see from the photo above I headed there over Easter weekend when it got pretty warm. Yolkin specialises in their ice-cream where they have some really weird and wacky flavours. But something they are quite known for is their macaroon ice cream sandwiches which is what I had.

The light chocolate macaroon decorated like a bunny was so soft and then inside was a huge scoop of chocolate ice cream. Now I’ve been once I’d definitely go again and try another flavour.

Grab an eclair from Maitre Choux

Another sweet treat ticked off was Maitre choux who specialist in eclairs. Luke planned a day out in London for us and I managed to sneak in a visit here as it was so close to the Victoria & Albert Museum where we had a stop off.

I picked up a salted caramel eclair which was so tasty. Although there wasn’t a whole lot of choice as a lot of the flavours were a little weird and wacky. But as far as eclairs go it was top notch!

Mabels Brunch

Have lunch in Mabels

This was another thing which got ticked off on my birthday trip to London. Instead of just picking somewhere randomly Luke asked me for the places on my to-eat list and chose this one. We had such a great meal in Mabels and it’s such reasonably priced for Covent Garden.

We went there on a Saturday afternoon (annoyingly they don’t open on Sunday’s) and they had a live musician playing which was a nice touch.

Do Go Ape

I’ve been saying that I’ll do Go Ape for about 5 years now and every summer I just don’t get around to it. I’m really really hoping that this year we get the chance to go as I want to climb among the trees.

Afternoon tea on the B Bakery double Decker bus

This is the final thing which was on my list from last year but sadly I didn’t tick this one-off. I know a few people who have done this afternoon tea and I’ve heard nothing but great things.

Basically, B Bakery offers to do a full afternoon tea while you’re on a double-decker bus exploring London. I think the concept is great as you get both a sightseeing tour and plenty of food and drink. Win-win in my book.

These are all awesome suggestions for places to visit and dine in when in London. I haven’t visited for a few years, so maybe next time we are there, we’d drop by these places and have our fill of those delicious treats.
